When it comes to creative projects or abilities I keep hearing things like ” I want to do that, but I don’t know where to start.” I’ve even said it to myself on a few occasions when I was younger. To alleviate some of the uncertainty and intimidation of creation, I’ve put together a list of great project kits for creatives.
Kits are such a great way to go about getting into a creative space. They generally have most of the tools and supplies you need. No wasting time trying to figure out if you have everything for a project, only to find you missed something and need to take another trip to the store. These kits also make great gifts for anyone interested in exploring something new. Most of these kits range from $15 – 45 USD.
Fiber Arts Kits
Knitting is one creative space that can be challenging to know what you need to get started. This kit comes with everything you should need to get started!
Crochet, while similar to knitting, is a whole different ball game, and needs its own tools. This kit is a really great starting point for those interested in picking up the craft.
Embroidery makes for some really beautiful works of art. It’s also a nice “sit and watch a show while you do it” project. Check out this kit for getting started.
This Needle felting kit is a great starting point for those interested. I’ve seen some incredible things come out of needle felting and have always appreciated the art.
Jewelry Making / Accessory Kits
If you’re looking for general jewelry making projects this kit should get you started in no time!
This faux leather earring making kit includes some cute materials and earring templates.
Ever been interested in the resin jewelry that seems to be everywhere right now? Check out this starter kit, it’s got some really great molds. Resin starter kits are hard to find that include the actual resin, so the downside to this kit is that you need to buy the resin separately. However, it has so many great supplies, I still recommend it. *Please note that resin should be handled in well ventilated areas.
Bow making is surprisingly easy and so fun! This bow making kit comes with templates to make your own bows. (I also have a few free templates you can find here.)
Art Kits
Acrylic paint is a really fun medium. It’s not that hard to get into either. Check out this kit that will get you painting in no time!
You can create some amazing things with watercolor paints. This is a great starter kit for just that!
Drawing is another great hobby that’s easy to take anywhere. Grab this kit to get all the things you need for drawing.
Miscellaneous Kits
A Cricut bundle is a great way to get started in the cut machine world! This kit has most of the tools you need as a beginner. I love that Cricut also walks you through a few projects to get you started so it’s less intimidating. The kit that’s pictured is the Cricut maker. These kits are a little bit more expensive since they come with an actual Cricut, but if you’re looking for a more affordable option, you can get the Cricut explore air 2 kit.
Paper quilling is surprisingly fun and easy to do. I’ve been really impressed with what some paper quilling tools can do! Get this starter kit to start playing around with it yourself.
Ever thought about getting into wood burning? Getting a starter kit is a great way to take the intimidation out of such a craft! Check out this one.
I never would have thought that it would be so easy to get into metal stamping, but getting a kit makes it a breeze! Create personalized jewelry and works of art with this stamping kit.
I’ve included several creative beginner kits that are great ways to get started. While these kits have the supplies and tools you need, some of them lack tutorials for projects. I highly recommend getting on youtube and looking up tutorials for the creative space you’re trying to get into. You may be surprised at how helpful that can be!
There you have it, a whole list of way to get into a specific creative space! I hope you find this list helpful and I hope it has inspired you to get creating. Thank you so much for reading!
