As Sewists, we are always on the hunt for awesome free patterns we can use. I’ve found a few that I’ve made and love and wanted to share them with you. There are also several listed that I haven’t tried yet, but plan to get to one day. These are all women’s patterns from various indie designers. However, most of the designers I got these patterns from also have several other free patterns available on their sites as well. So be sure to look around while you’re there!
A few of the clothes featured in this post were sewn with Jersey knits from Cali Fabrics. Cali Fabrics graciously gave me these fabric to include in this post.
Now let’s dive in!
Patterns For Pirates – Pirate Pencil Skirt
The pencil skirt pattern can be found here. I Made my cute pencil skirt with this fabric From Cali Fabrics. I love a good cotton lycra and this color is crazy fun and loud. It’s such a fun pop of color to a more neutral top.
Love Notions – Laundry Day Tee
This pattern can be found here. I Made my dress with this fabric from Cali Fabrics. This is a top pattern, but also has an option for a dress. (which is the option I chose to make.) I really like this dress because It’s a bit of a swing dress which means you can wear it as is and it’s super comfy, or you can dress it up with a belt to cinch in the fabric and show off that figure! I made this dress with long sleeves, but there is a short sleeve option as well.
While this pattern is free, you will need to get the code in the Love Notions Facebook group in order to get this pattern for free. Just join the group and their pinned post tells you how to get the free file.
Made For Mermaids – Mama Cora Culottes
The culottes pattern can be found here. I Made mine with this fabric from Cali Fabrics. These are a great spring or summer sew! My favorite thing about culottes is that it generally looks like you’re wearing a skirt. But you don’t have to worry about the breeze picking up your skirt since it’s actually shorts!
Made For Mermaids – Mama Paige Piko
The pattern for this piko top can be found here. I Made it with this fabric from cali fabrics. I’m not going to lie, I’m pretty sure this is my favorite pattern on this list! It’s so stylish, pretty easy to put together and the pattern has a few different options for variety. I could probably make like five of these shirts and just keep them in rotation. (That’s how much I like this pattern!)
Phat Quarters – Eve Layering Tee
This is another pattern that you’ll need to join the designers facebook group to get a code for the free pattern. I like that this tee is basic and simple. It’s perfect for everyday wear! Get your copy of the Eve layering tee here. (don’t forget to grab the code!) I made this top using a rayon spandex fabric.
