I am filling my closet with all the fall T shirts and pulling out my boots. It’s Autumn where I live and the weather will be cooling down soon. My most recent sew for my closet is a long sleeve T shirt I made with a free pattern.
As I was getting ready to sew this pattern, I thought it would be fun to share the process of how this top is sewn. Check out this video of me sewing the T shirt! It includes a number of tips for sewing knits. (Including how to use hem tape!) The pattern I used is the Eve Layering Top from Phat Quarters PDF Patterns.

Thoughts on the Pattern and Designer
This is actually my first time using Phat Quarters patterns. Simply because I primarily sew for myself and they have largely only had kids patterns in the past. I admire their kids patterns though, so I was excited to try this pattern.
I have to say I’m pretty impressed with the quality of the pattern, instructions, and information that they provide within the pattern. There are even directions for how to do a full bust adjustment (FBA). It’s common to see instructions for how to grade sizes or height adjustments among indie patterns, but I don’t recall ever seeing FBA instructions within pattern information before. I think it’s great. The T shirt pattern also has notches and a waistline marking, something I find missing from several indie designer’s patterns.
Final Thoughts
The shirt I made from this pattern will be a staple in my fall wardrobe and I plan to make more. The pattern quality is on point, and I appreciate the extra details in the instructions and on the pattern pieces.
Thank you so much for reading and don’t forget to check out the video at the top to watch the process!
